The Weekly Report Cornerstone

   WEEK 52 Dec 17th to 23rd 2001

   DYING NATURE

The reports show that an extensive effort was made to correct the damage to the northern European forests, but nothing was done with the reason for the damage, the pollution itself. And when the funding fell and stopped in the early nineties, the grim situation revisited itself.
42 percent of the forest is in a so-called alarming state. The damage is clearly visible even by a casual look. The forest floor is also polluted to the point where in some cases nothing can grow and life is scarcer than in the desert.
